The BSN at CSUMB is a degree completion program for Registered Nurses who have completed an Associate Degree in Nursing or for students who enter through the collaborative track with one of the four regional community college nursing programs (Monterey Peninsula College, Cabrillo, Hartnell or Gavilan). We do not offer a "traditional" four-year BSN degree.
The following coursework should be completed and passed with a grade of "C" or higher prior to entering CSUMB:
Preparation for Community College Transfer Students
- Intermediate Algebra (a requirement for ADN graduation, non transferable)
- Area A: Written and Oral Communication, Critical Thinking, 9 units
- Area B: 19 units
Math: Statistics, 3 units (CSUMB BSN requirement). May be in-progress upon admission.
Chemistry: Elements of General, Organic, or Biochemistry, 4 unitsBiology: Human Anatomy with dissection lab, 4 units, Human Physiology with lab, 4 units, Microbiology with lab, 4 units (All are ADN requirements).

Area C: Humanities and Fine Arts (2 different disciplines), 9 units
Note: C-area should include two semesters in a foreign language, one at the 102 level, and one at the 201 to count towards CSUMB's foreign language requirement. Language requirement may be met while in CSUMB BSN program.
- Area D: Social Sciences (3 different disciplines), including U.S. History, Constitution and American Ideals, and California State and Local Government, 9 units
- Area E: Vibrancy: 1 course in personal development theory and 1 activity course, 4 units

It is important to speak with a Nursing advisor for recommended course sequencing.
Prior to entering CSUMB, transcripts from all previous coursework should be sent to the CSUMB Nursing Program verifying completion and credit for up to 42 units of the lower division nursing academic credit. For applicants articulating directly from an ADN program, students must possess an unrestricted RN license by the end of fall semester 2014 in order to progress in the BSN program.
