In the SBS program, you learn the social science and critical thinking skills used by scholars and professionals in the fields of anthropology, archaeology, economics, political science, geography, history and sociology. You will use these skills to design and carry out projects that address real-life social problems faced by human communities locally and globally. The SBS major prepares you for effective and ethical social intervention and advocacy. You will have many enriching opportunities to interact with social and behavioral scientists, community leaders, activists and the CSUMB community. Some courses are either fully online or have significant online components. SBS faculty are adept at computer-mediated communication and can work with students through a range of electronic media. We often communicate with our students while they are off campus or in the dorms, even when they are doing research or taking courses in other countries!
