The Agribusiness concentration, designed in close collaboration with Hartnell College, is intended to provide managers for the agribusiness industry of this region. It prepares students for high-potential careers in management, marketing, accounting and finance, and other disciplines within the industry.
Lower division courses
The concentration is designed to accommodate students that have taken either business/management or agricultural science courses during freshman and sophomore years. In addition to the major’s lower-division core courses, all students are required to take a minimum of two lower-division agricultural science courses, both of which are offered at Hartnell: Soil Science (AG 90) and Plant Science (AG 92). Students pursuing an agricultural sciences track may substitute Ag Business Economics (Hartnell’s AG 53 or equivalent) for BUS 201: Macro Economics and BUS 202: Micro Economics, Ag Accounting Principles (AG 55 or equivalent) for BUS 203: Financial Accounting and BUS 205: Managerial Accounting, and Ag Business Law or Ag Regulations and Safety (AG 91 or equivalent) for BUS 206: Business Law.
Upper-division required core courses
As warranted by the number of students in the concentration, the School of Business may offer separate agribusiness sections of selected core courses, including BUS 300: Major ProSeminar, BUS 305: Principles of Management, BUS 306: Fundamentals of Marketing, and BUS 307: Finance. Also, students pursuing this concentration are expected to undertake agribusiness-related projects in BUS 303S: Partic in Comm Econ Devel , BUS 309: Principles of Operations Mgmt, BUS 310: Entrepreneurship, and BUS 499: Strat. Mgmt. (Sr. Cap.).

Four Agribusiness electives: 16 units
Total upper division major units: 48 units
*If you want two concentrations you must meet the requirements for each of the concentrations. This would mean a minimum of 8 concentration courses (32 units).

- Students pursuing this concentration must take two of the following electives. He/she may substitute one elective with the prior written approval of the concentration adviser:
