Outcomes, Courses and Assessment

You must achieve the Learning Outcomes designated below by successfully completing courses or alternative assessment options as described in the section that follows.

LO 1 Anthropological Theory ~ Understanding of classic and conteporary anthropological theories, with particular emphasis on archaeological and cultural anthropological theory. Ability to apply and interpret integrative theoretical frameworks to explain social phenomena at local and global levels. Ability to assess how the human experience is influenced by geographical and historical processes.

LO 2 Anthropological Methods: Archaeology and Cultural Anthropology ~ Ability to identify and understand quantitative and qualitative methods of data collection and analysis in anthropological and archaeological research. Ability to effectively articulate the importance and uses of modern electronic technologies to collect, manage, present and analyze data.

LO 3 Subdisciplinary specialization (Cultural Anthropology and/or Archaeology) ~ Ability to represent the basic characteristics, main theories, methodologies and landmark projects associated with archaeological or cultural anthropological reseach. Ability to demonstrate having a solid foundation in at least one traditional sub-discipline choces from cultural anthropology and/or archaeology. Ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of historical and contemporary cultures within and outside of the United States.
