Requirements for students AA-T certified in Journalism

If you transferred into CSUMB as an AA-T-certified student in Journalism, you must complete the following courses for your bachelor's degree in Human Communication at CSUMB. If you are unsure about your transfer status, please talk to an advisor.

  • HCOM 475: Senior Capstone
  • HCOM 312: Cooperative Argumentation-Theory and Practice
  • HCOM 307S: Soc Impct Of Mass Media SL
  • HCOM 330: Intro Creative Writing
  • SBS 350: Domination and Resistance: US since 1880 (Fulfills American Institutions Requirement, GE Area D2)

  • HCOM 489: Otter Realm Production (this course must be repeated to fulfill concentration requirement)

Students must also demonstrate second language proficiency through the 201 level.Read more about the Language Proficiency Requirement. If you need to begin language study at the 101 level, consult your department chair to determine your 60 unit pathway.
