Credits Required

Total credits in the Psychology minor: Minimum of 9 upper division units

Prerequisites

Because psychology is a science, students must complete specific lower-division prerequisites prior to attaining the upper-division breadth requirements for the Psychology Minor. For example, Introductory Psychology, Introductory Statistics, and Introductory Research Methodology with lab are courses that must be completed prior to enrollment in any upper-division psychology courses (i.e., numbers 300 and above).

Courses and Assessment

  • Complete the following three lower-division courses or equivalents (Please note: Introductory Psychology and Introductory Statistics must be completed before taking Introductory Research Methods. Concurrent enrollment is not allowed):
    1. Introductory Psychology (i.e. PSY 100: Introduction to Psychology)
    2. GE-certified statistics (i.e., STAT 100: Introduction to Statistics)
    3. Introductory Research Methods with Lab (i.e., PSY 200/L: Intro/Research/Methd/Data/Anal).
       
  • Complete any three upper-division courses from the list below as long as they are in three different areas (e.g., you cannot take more than one research skills course).

      2. PSY 302/L: PSY/Resear/Methods/Data/Analys
      3. PSY 305/L: PSY Testing & Measurement
    2. Biological Psychology
      1. Any PSY course numbered 310-319
    3. Clinical Psychology
      1. Any PSY course numbered 320-329
    4. Cognitive Psychology
      1. Any PSY course numbered 330-339
    5. Developmental Psychology
      1. Any PSY course numbered 340-349
      2. Any HDEV course numbered 300 or above
    6. Social Psychology
      1. Any PSY course numbered 350-359
