CSUMB provides an exceptional education at an affordable price. We're a small, residential campus with an engaged faculty. Students receive individual attention plus the many opportunities of a comprehensive university.
The heart of CSUMB - our ideals, aspirations and values - is outlined in our Vision Statement. The Vision includes our commitment to academic rigor and interdisciplinary learning, to social justice, respect and equal opportunities for all, to sustainability, multiculturalism and collaboration, and to accountability and service to others.
The CSU Monterey Bay campus is on the former Fort Ord Army Base, which has some perks. For example, the residence hall rooms are much bigger than average because they are in remodeled officers quarters. In keeping with our green philosophy, we've reused whenever possible, so you'll find many bits and pieces of this history all over campus - unique and surprising reminders of Monterey Bay's military past.
Monterey Bay isn't just for scientists and surfers (though we have our share). The communities that surround our campus offer a wide range of cultural activities, while maintaining a friendly, small-town feel. Plus. all the major metropolitan attractions of the San Francisco Bay Area are just a two-hour drive away.
In short, CSU Monterey Bay offers an incredible learning environment. From our campus, you can look out on the lush agricultural fields of the Salinas Valley, the historic city of Monterey, and the bay itself - all places where students apply their learning through internships, service learning and research.
