Advising

The small ISSM program features a layered system of intensive advising:

• The ISSM 300: Major ProSeminar, ISSM 395: Special Topics, ISSM 397: Independent Study, and ISSM 400: Senior Capstone: Indep Study courses provide integrated faculty counseling and support to all ISSM students throughout their special major program of study. These courses create collaborative learning communities for structured peer support.
  
• As a student in the ISSM program, you have a personalized, dedicated team of interdisciplinary program staff and faculty advisors from different disciplines and fields. This team coordinates and oversees your work on the academic content of your Individual Learning Plan.
  
• The CSUMB Library staff provides intellectual advising for your research projects.
  
• The ISSM Director coordinates and oversees all advising to ensure coherence and completion of your learning goals.
