If you intend to be an Environmental Science, Technology & Policy (ESTP) major, you should select "any science" on the CSU application. You may declare ESTP as your major as soon as you enter CSUMB. If you are a CSUMB student who wishes to become an ESTP student, you should request a change of major via the CMS Peoplesoft online advising system.
Though you can consult the course pathways as general guides to planning your coursework to complete the Environmental Science, Technology & Policy requirements, whether simply interested or already a declared Environmental Science, Technology & Policy major, you should consult an ESTP advisor as soon as possible. We welcome inquiries from both current and prospective students. While you are a freshman or sophomore, your Environmental Science, Technology & Policy advisor will guide you through your ULRs (General Education Breadth Requirements) and the lower-division prerequisites in MLO 1 and MLO 2. In your junior year, when you take ENVS 300: Read, Writ & Crit Thnk in ENVS, you will select a faculty advisor to help you plan your final semesters at CSUMB based on your goals and strengths.
You are strongly encouraged to meet in person with your ESTP advisor each semester. Your advisor will help you plan your CSUMB courses using an ESTP Individual Learning Plan. The ILP is a form that allows you to list the classes you will take to fulfill each Environmental Science, Technology & Policy Major Learning Outcomes and the CSUMB University Learning Requirements. The ILP form and other advising documents are available from the Environmental Science, Technology & Policy advising website.
To contact an ESTP Advisor, visit the SEP office in the Chapman Science Center, Room S314; email sep_office@csumb.edu; or call 831-582-4120 or 831-582-4739.
ESTP also has a strong internship program.
