The Reading Center

Since its opening in March of 2007, The Center for Reading Diagnosis and Instruction has been a valuable resource to students, parents and educators in our Tri-county area. At the center, students in grades K-12 receive tutoring in reading and writing. A reading specialist assesses the student's literacy skills and then develops lessons based on the results. CSUMB students deliver individualized lessons twice a week focusing on decoding, comprehension and fluency. Throughout the year, the center provides literacy enrichment activities for students, such as a summer reading incentive program and fall literacy night. The center also sponsors professional development for educators during an annual literacy conference.
