Graduation Requirement in Writing Proficiency ~ Courses

Through Spring 2004, the Graduation Writing Assessment Requirement [GWAR] could be met through either courses or an exam. Starting Fall 2004, the GWAR could be met only through courses.

Courses currently approved to fulfill the Graduation Writing Assessment Requirement are listed below along with the timeframe during which each has been approved. Successful completion of a course within the timeframe indicated fulfills the requirement.

Though most courses listed here will continue to be approved beyond the timeframe indicated, you should verify that a course satisfies GWAR on the Banner student information system at the time of registration. Courses no longer satisfying the requirement can be viewed in the archive of previously approved courses.

The listing of a course as approved does not indicate that it will be offered in any given semester. Check current offerings on the CSUMB.EDU/schedule website or check the course descriptions to see how frequently a course is offered.
