Computer Science and Information Technology B.S. ~ Distinguishing FeaturesThe CSIT program distinguishes itself from other computer science programs by emphasizing the human side of computing and by infusing social and ethical dimensions to the curriculum. The program integrates strong fundamental computing concepts with latest real-world problem solving skills. The Major ProSeminar will give you a preview of the CSIT major and familiarize you with its requirements. With faculty guidance to help you clarify your talents and interests and see how they relate to the fields, you will identify and articulate personal, professional and social goals. You will also use technology to explore communication skills in the workplace and start career planning. You will develop an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) in the Major ProSeminar. It will outline course modules, collaborative projects, fieldwork, seminars and independent work that you will include as you prepare for your Senior Capstone project. You will document your completion of the ILP through presentation of a portfolio. Your Senior Capstone will involve you in a year-long sequence of learning experiences that results in a technology project that showcases an achievement of professional level work in your area of specialization. |
