Telecommunications, Multimedia, and Applied Computing B.S. ~ Pathways for Entering Freshmen
The Telecommunications, Multimedia, and Applied Computing B.S. program offers several areas of emphasis within the major. All of the emphases have the same lower-division core courses that you'll take your freshman and sophomore years at CSUMB while you are completing most of your University Learning Requirements. The first table below offers a recommended course pathway (i.e. semester-by-semester course plan) for your first two years. This pathway assumes you have already completed all recommended preparation for admission to the CSU, including two years of high school language and passing scores on the ELM and EPT. If you have not completed this preparation, you may need to take additional courses and should consult a TMAC advisor.
Because CSUMB is outcomes-based, this chronological pathway lists each target outcome first either as an MLO (Major Learning Outcome) or ULR/GLO (University Learning Requirements / Graduation Learning Outcomes). It then shows courses aligned with those outcomes along with credits and an indication of when they are offered. For more information on a course—including title, credits, description, and prerequisites—click its number. For more information on an outcome, click on its abbreviated name. Pathways for your junior and senior year differ by TMAC emphasis and can be found below the freshman/sophomore table.
These pathways, intended as a reference, model graduation with 120 credits. It is unlikely that your actual pathway will look exactly like any model due to several factors:
You must earn nine upper-division General Education credits after you have reached upper-division status. Upper-division GE courses taken when you are a lower-division student do not count toward this requirement.
