Faculty, staff, and peer advisors work collaboratively to support and guide you through the curriculum and to your academic goals. Faculty members serve as mentors to help you develop and create your academic plans to achieve your career objectives. The Liberal Studies Advising Coordinator, a specialist trained to advise and coordinate with you during the advisement plan, works one-on-one with you to develop an Individual Learning Plan that outlines how Major Learning Outcomes will be achieved. Student peer advisors provide experienced, expert advice on completing graduation and degree requirements.
The Liberal Studies Advising Center serves as a one-stop-shop for answering questions about the major and preparation for entrance into a multiple subjects teaching credential program. You can drop in or schedule an appointment for individualized advising.
The Liberal Studies Department produces an Advising Guide for the Teaching Pathway and for the Non-Teaching Pathway on an annual or semester-by-semester basis. The guide includes current course requirements, policies, and recent changes to the program. The Advising Guide can aid you in planning future coursework and in gaining better insight into the major. You should pick up a recent version at the Liberal Studies Department Advising Center in Building 82C.
