Given the collaboration of the nursing program with the four regional colleges, Monterey Peninsula, Hartnell, Cabrillo and Gavilan entry to the CSUMB BSN is only possible through one of the four regional community college nursing programs. There is no direct entry from CSUMB.
To be well prepared for entry into the Nursing B.S. degree program and to graduate in 3.5 years, the following coursework should be completed and passed with a grade of "C" or higher prior to entering CSUMB:
Preparation for Community College Transfer Students
- Intermediate Algebra (a requirement for ADN graduation, non transferable)
- Area A: Written and Oral Communication, Critical Thinking, 9 units
- Area B: 19 units
Math: Statistics, 3 units
Chemistry: Elements of General, Organic, or Biochemistry, 4 unitsBiology: Human Anatomy with dissetion lab, 4 units, Human Physiology with lab, 4 units, Microbiology with lab, 4 units.

Area C: Humanities and Fine Arts (2 different disciplines), 9 units
Note: C-area should include two semesters in a foreign language, one at the 102 level, and one at the 201 to count towards CSUMB's foreign language requirement. -
Area D: Social Sciences (3 different disciplines), including U.S. History, Constitution and American Ideals, and California State and Local Government, 9 units

Area E: Vibrancy: 1 course in personal development theory and 1 activity course, 4 units

Prior to entering the CSUMB final fall semester students are required to have passed NCLEX (licensure exam) and sent transcripts to the CSUMB Director of the Nursing Program verifying completion and credit for up to 42 units of the lower division nursing academic credit.
