Marsha Moroh is the dean of the College of Science, Media Arts and Technology. She came to CSUMB as a founding faculty member in January of 1995 from the City University of New York, where she was the Chair of the Computer Science Department. She holds a BS in mathematics from Dickinson College in Pennsylvania, a master's in industrial engineering/operations research from NYU, and a Ph.D in computer science/electrical engineering from Polytechnic Institute of New York, (where she was the first woman to receive the computer science Ph.D). Her areas of research are database systems, scientific data management, and increasing the participation of women in science, mathematics and technology. She is the recipient of several major grants, and has done research for NASA in the area of scientific data management. She has served as the dean of the College of Science, Media Arts and Technology at CSUMB since the fall of 1996. From June 2005 to January 2007 she served as interim provost and vice president for academic affairs. In 2002 she was the recipient of the CSUMB's President's Medal as outstanding administrator.
