It's tough to beat CSUMB and the Monterey Bay region as a place to learn about biology!

We have state-of-the-art biology teaching labs on campus where you can learn about everything from viruses to whales, plus we have ties to other great biology institutions, like the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Moss Landing Marine Labs. We are surrounded on all sides by fabulous outdoor biology "classrooms" including the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary to the west, Elkhorn Slough Estuarine Research Reserve to the north, America's "Salad Bowl" of agricultural riches to the east, and the rugged moutains, forests, rivers and coastline of Big Sur and the Ventana Wilderness to the south!

Faculty collaborations and partnerships with regional research and education institutions, including local hospitals, biotech firms, wildlife research centers, and state or federal agencies involved in biological projects, give you access to a wide range of research opportunities, field trips, internships, and other unique learning experiences.

The biology courses at CSUMB are relatively small classes with an emphasis on hands-on learning in laboratories, field trips to local habitats, and applied projects. Come join the fun!
