Master of Public Policy ~ Preparation

You should complete the following prerequisites prior to entering the MPP program.

Coursework

• Introductory Statistics
• Introductory Economics
• Introduction to American Political Institutions

If you have not completed this required coursework, you must do so prior to entering the MPP program. Transfer courses from other colleges and universities completed with a grade of B or better will be accepted with sufficient evidence to demonstrate equivalency to CSUMB course outcomes.

If your recent experience with statistics is limited and your coursework is more than five years old, we recommend that you take a refresher course prior to applying. They are available at most community colleges.

Computer Literacy

You are expected to possess a high level of computer literacy when you enter the MPP program, either from computer coursework or through professional training and experience. At a minimum, you should be comfortable using electronic spreadsheets, word processors and presentation software (including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.)
