Education M.A. ~ AdmissionHow to Apply Deadline: The MAE Curriculum & Instruction Emphasis accepts applications only for fall semesters. Completed applications are due April 1. Special Education Emphasis applicants need to contact the Special Education Program Coordinator regarding admission dates, deadlines, and additional procedures. University Application Process Students will need to apply to both the university and the M.A. in Education program. Complete an application to the graduate program of CSUMB and submit all required fees and supporting materials. Information for applying to CSUMB online can be found here. - Write a 2-3 page typed essay that addresses how your goals match the focus of this program. In other words, why are you interested in pursuing a Master of Arts in Education degree, why are you selecting this program, and how would this degree contribute to your own professional goals as a teacher?
- Send two letters of recommendation from individuals familiar with your academic work and/or professional work. The letters should address why you should be admitted into this graduate program.

Admission Requirements: - Completion of a B.A. or B.S. degree from an accredited university. Admission & Records will verify your prior degree and your GPA.
- Grade point average of at least 2.75 at the undergraduate level and 3.00 at the post-baccalaureate level.
- Teaching credential (unless you teach at a level not requiring a credential) and 3-4 years of teaching experience.
- Match between your background and professional goals and our program. We will assess this match on the basis of your professional goal statement and your letters of recommendation.
- Successful substantive prior work or personal experience that reflects some of the program's core outcomes.
Admission to all programs and degrees in education is by selection process, and is contingent on program space available. Meeting minimal admission requirements does not guarantee admission to the program. International applicants need to contact Admissions & Recruitment regarding other required application materials such as TOEFL scores.
