Jim Main
Jim Main joined the university on August 31, 2007. As vice president for the Administration and Finance Division, Main oversees all finance operations, business support services, human resources, the university police department, and the large-scale construction projects now under way on the campus.
Main came to CSUMB from Southern Oregon University in Ashland, where he served as vice president for finance and administration from 2005 through 2007. In that position, he controlled the university’s financial resources and oversaw numerous business support functions such as accounting, public safety, human resources, facilities, and campus construction projects.
Previously, during an almost 20-year career at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, he served in a number of executive positions in business and finance areas. Main’s last position there was assistant vice chancellor for business and finance--fiscal affairs. Earlier, he served in business management positions within higher education at the University of Texas, Trenton State College, and Brown University.
Main earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from the University of Connecticut, in Storrs, and has pursued a Ph.D. in higher education administration at the University of Texas, Austin.
