Courses currently approved to fulfill the Language ULR are listed below along with the timeframe during which each has been approved. Successful completion of a course within the timeframe indicated fulfills the ULR.
To ensure continued alignment between courses and learning outcomes, the Language learning community reevaluates course approvals regularly. Though most courses listed here will continue to be approved beyond the timeframe indicated, you should verify that a course satisfies the ULR on the Banner student information system at the time of registration. Courses no longer satisfying the ULR, can be viewed in the archive of previously approved courses.
The listing of a course as approved does not indicate that it will be offered in any given semester. Check current offerings on the CSUMB.EDU/schedule website or check the course descriptions to see how frequently a course is offered.
If you enter CSUMB as a freshman or transfer with fewer than 56 transferable credits, you must first qualify to take a fourth-level (202) course by completing courses at the 101, 102, and 201 levels. Because all available 101, 102, and 201 courses can help qualify you for a fourth-level course in the language involved, we do not list them individually here. Once you have completed this preparation work, you can be certified in this ULR by successfully completing a non-English language course at the fourth level including the following:
