From the area of coaching to the multiple areas of sport management, one of the most distinguishing features of the program at CSUMB in Sport Management is the environmental landscape in which the university and the program exist. You will be exposed to field based and internship opportunities ranging from the Big Sur Marathon to the AT&T golf tournament; from the Pebble Beach Golf Course to the Salinas Rodeo; from the beaches of the Pacific Ocean to the mountain trails in Big Sur. You could have an opportunity to coach at the Boys and Girls Club or intern with the Pebble Beach Company; coach at the local high school or intern in Athletic Training at CSUMB; volunteer at the Big Sur Marathon or intern at the Annual Sea Otter Classic celebration of all things cycling.
Experiential learning opportunities in sport management on the Central Coast are limitless and exist in every conceivable area of the field: amateur and recreational; scholastic and intercollegiate; personal and professional. What doesn’t exist in Monterey does exist within close range of Monterey. You’re learning experiences will be active and vibrant and you’ll learn as you experience the operational dimensions of the activity or the event. From the "Just Run" program in the elementary schools in Monterey County to the "Big Sur International Marathon", the learning is active, the experience takes your breath away, and the opportunities open doors for CSUMB students to network and learn from some of the best competitors, sport enthusiasts and professionals in the world.
