Marsha Moroh was a founding faculty member at CSUMB, and served as the Dean of the College of Science, Media Arts and Technology from fall 1996 through spring 2005. She will return to that position following her interim service as Provost while the permanent Provost serves as Interim President during the current search for a new permanent CSUMB President.
Dr. Moroh is a computer scientist, and holds her Ph.D in computer science/electrical engineering from Polytechnic Institute of New York, a master’s in industrial engineering from NYU, and a bachelor of science in mathematics from Dickinson College in Pennsylvania.
Prior to coming to CSUMB, Dr. Moroh was a professor at the City University of New York, where she chaired the computer science department at the College of Staten Island. Her areas of specialty are database systems and scientific data management, and increasing the number of women in the fields of science, math, and technology.
Dr. Moroh has published widely and has consulted for government agencies, corporations, and educational institutions. She has received several major grants, and has conducted research for NASA in the area of scientific data management. In 2002, she was awarded the CSUMB President’s Medal in recognition of her service to the university.
