Liberal Studies B.A. Teaching Pathway ~ Learning Environment
Our vibrant, culturally diverse, and technologically advanced "21st CSU campus for the 21st century" will envelop you in a rich and rewarding undergraduate experience.
The surrounding Monterey Bay region is a real-world interdisciplinary classroom, with incredible scenery—including the peaceful Pacific, colorful coastal mountains, and varied valleys—and an economic base ranging from agriculture to tourism.
Our classes are highly interactive and, even though your learning will be general in scope, your education will be highly individualized. Small class sizes allow for closer working experiences with peers and with instructors.
Multicultural perspectives are infused in all the curriculum because we recognize that students need to be prepared to enter the increasingly diverse workplace of today and of the future. We give students the tools for tapping into diversity as a resource for success.
Service learning opportunities allow for real-world experience in career venues. The majority of our instructors have real-life teaching experience in a variety of formal school settings and informal educational venues. Students learn from those with expertise in the field.
Collaborative, team-based learning is emphasized in the curriculum. In today's networked world, skills in collaboration are expected. At CSUMB, we build opportunities for students to refine and enhance their own collaborative skills in order to take leadership roles in their future careers.
