Telecommunication, Multimedia, and Applied Computing B.S. ~ Pathway for Transfer Students with Articulated Prerequisites

The Telecommunications, Multimedia, and Applied Computing B.S. program offers several areas of emphasis within the major.  All of the emphases have the same recommended courses to take before you transfer to CSUMB, as shown on the Preparation page. Once you have completed the required General Education and prerequisite courses, the following 2-year pathways are our recommendations to complete the Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommunications, Multimedia, and Applied Computing with an emphasis in any of the following:

Because CSUMB is outcomes-based, these semester-by-semester pathways list each target outcome first either as  an MLO (Major Learning Outcome) or ULR/GLO (University Learning Requirements / Graduation Learning Outcomes). It then shows courses aligned with those outcomes along with credits and an indication of when they are offered. For more information on a course—including title, credits, description, and prerequisites—click its number. For more information on an outcome, click on its abbreviated name.

These pathways, intended as a reference, model graduation after earning 60 credits at CSUMB. It is unlikely that your actual pathway will look exactly like the model due to several factors:

  • The number of credits you transfer into CSUMB with, and how those credits articulate with CSUMB requirements
  • Whether or not you need to take additional courses to meet the CSUMB Language ULR as a Graduation Learning Outcome (These pathways assume you have met the language requirement prior to your first semester at CSUMB. If not, you will need to add additional courses in consultation with your major advisors.)
  • Whether or not you need to take additional coursework to meet the Technology and Information ULR as a Graduation Learning Outcome (These pathways assume you have met this requirement prior to your first semester at CSUMB. If not, you will need to add additional courses in consultation with your major advisors.)
  • Actual availability of courses during a given semester
  • Personal choices you make in your Individual Learning Plan—in consultation with your major advisors—including the decision to pursue more than the minimal learning requirements

You must earn nine upper-division General Education credits after you have reached upper-division status. Upper-division GE courses taken when you are a lower-division student do not count toward this requirement.
