Policies & Regulations ~ Alcohol and Illicit Drugs

CSUMB encourages and supports your effort to maintain good health and wellbeing. Abuse of alcohol and use of illicit drugs impairs both, and puts your health at risk.

The sale, manufacture, distribution, possession, or use of any controlled substance as defined in the California Health and Safety Code is illegal. The University Police Department strictly enforces laws. Violators are subject to criminal prosecution. CSUMB students and employees are also subject to disciplinary action.

CSUMB severely restricts the consumption, sale, or furnishing of alcoholic beverages on campus. The campus enforces all state laws regulating alcoholic beverages, including the use of alcohol by minors. Students under the age of 21 may neither possess nor consume alcohol. The use of alcoholic beverages in university residences is subject to state law, university regulations, and housing regulations.

You can obtain detailed information regarding alcohol and drug regulations from Judicial Affairs or an Office of Residential Life staff member.

CSUMB makes substance abuse prevention and assistance programs available to employees and students. Employees should contact University Human Resources, and students should contact the Personal Growth and Counseling Center for information about specific programs.
