Liberal Studies, B.A. ~ Typical Pathways

Liberal Studies offers both teaching and non-teaching pathways.  The teaching pathway meets California state requirements for subject matter competency for students desiring to attain a multiple subjects credential to teach in grades K-8.  On this pathway, you take sequences of courses across academic disciplines that prepare you to teach the subjects usually taught in elementary school and to pass the California Subject Examination Test: Multiple Subjects, which is required for entrance into a teaching credential program.

The non-teaching pathway meets the needs of students seeking a broad-based education leading to careers other than teaching.  On this pathway, you select courses from across academic disciplines to provide you with a varied, well-grounded curriculum.

Please see the individual pathways for  typical semester schedules that you might follow to complete the requirements.
