Community Participation ULR ~ Assessment

Course-Based Assessment

In each course satisfying the Community Participation ULR, the following evidence is assessed to determine if you have satisfied the outcomes for the ULR.

  • Reflective journals
  • Summative paper addressing progress toward outcomes
  • Evaluation by community supervisor
  • Presentations to class
  • Participation in class discussion
  • Poetry, collage, media presentation

The following criteria guide the faculty member assessing the evidence.

  • Complexity and depth
  • Cultural awareness
  • Critical personal reflection
  • Analysis of power relations
  • Sensitivity and respect
  • Responsive accountability
Alternative Assessments

You can also meet the requirements for this ULR through assessment of prior learning. To complete alternative assessment, you must submit a portfolio demonstrating achievement of the learning outcomes and demonstrate satisfactory completion of at least 30 hours of community service.

Alternative assessment assumes that you have already attained mastery of the outcomes. It is not an independent study. To qualify for alternative assessment, you should contact Dr. Pamela Motoike to schedule a pre-assessment evaluation. Upon satisfactory completion of the evaluation, you will be given permission to enroll in Assessment 433.
