Mission

  • Provide excellent undergraduate, pre-service and graduate education programs that are learning-centered, interdisciplinary, collaborative and oriented toward social justice and diversity.
  • Foster students with the knowledge, skills, abilities and values that are essential to professional competence and quality of personal life in our dynamic, pluralistic and technological society by engaging them in active learning experiences in a variety of school, community and business contexts.
  • Build and sustain partnerships and linkages with pre K-12 schools, other colleges and universities, community organizations, agencies, businesses and historically marginalized communities to bring knowledge and experience that increase the college's capacity to provide high-quality, innovative academic programs that meet the educational needs of our students, the region, and the state in the fields of education, business, public policy, health, human services, and human performance and wellness.

Britt Rios-Ellis, Ph.D., Dean

Dr. Britt Rios-Ellis came from CSU Long Beach where she served as a Professor of Health Science and the Director of the National Council of La Raza (NCLR)/CSULB Center for Latino Community Health, Evaluation and Leadership Training. She has directed several Latino health-related projects, and worked as evaluator on several NCLR based projects.

She is a member of the Steward Group for the National Network to Eliminate Disparities and has consulted for the Pan American Health Organization, the National Association for Community Health Centers, the US Health Resource Services Administration, the National Minority AIDS Education and Training Center, and the US Office of Minority Health.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Spanish, a master of science in Health and Fitness management and a doctorate degree in Community Health all from the University of Oregon.
