The mission of the First Year Seminar is to assure your successful transition to university life and study. If you enter CSUMB with fewer than 30 transferable credits, you will take First Year Seminar during your first semester. First Year Seminar will provide you with a rich curriculum in one of the General Education content areas, while at the same time providing you with valuable preparation for success as a university student. You will learn about the CSUMB Vision and the programs, services and opportunities that make this university unique. You will learn how to access all the resources available to you.
When you complete First Year Seminar you will have developed an Individual Learning Plan that charts your progress toward fulfillment of your personal, academic and professional goals through your first two years and you will have a clear idea of your major options at CSUMB. The remainder of your academic plan will be completed when you enter your major.
