Health and Wellness Minor ~ Careers and Graduate Study

Graduates who have completed the Health and Wellness Minor in conjunction with a CSUMB major have entered and achieved notable success teaching in schools, pre-schools, and community health, education, and wellness programs; in the administration of wellness programs in a variety of state and local settings; as directors or staff in corporate health and wellness programs; as staff for retirement or planned living communities; in entry level health education programs; and as professional staff for numerous organizations.

The organizations hiring Health and Wellness graduates have included not-for-profit organizations, both national and international; school nutrition programs; family life programs; teen advocacy programs; substance abuse programs and facilities; fitness, nutrition, and recreation-related programs; family planning agencies; church and social service related programs; family life and school education programs; volunteer organizations and associations; public health programs and agencies; and food banks and shelters.

We encourage interested students who begin in this minor to consider going to graduate programs in the health education field. A master's of public health or master's of science in a specialized or health-related graduate studies program could open additional opportunities and prepare students for different levels of administration, teaching, and service.
