Admissions ~ Intrasystem and Intersystem Enrollment Programs

If enrolled at any CSU campus, you have access to courses at other CSU campuses on a space available basis unless those campuses or programs are impacted. This access is offered without you being required to be admitted formally to the host campus and sometimes without paying additional fees. Although courses taken on any CSU campus will transfer to your home CSU campus as at least elective credit, you should consult your home campus academic advisors to determine how such courses may apply to your degree programs before enrolling at the host campus.

There are two programs for enrollment within the CSU and one for enrollment between CSU and the University of California or California Community Colleges. Additional information about these programs is available from  CSUMB Admissions & Records.

CSU Concurrent Enrollment

If a matriculated student in good standing, you may enroll at both your home CSU campus and a host CSU campus during the same term. Credit earned at the host campus is automatically reported at your request to the home campus to be included on your transcript at the home campus.

Concurrent enrollment is approved for a specific term subject to space availability and registration priority policies at the host campus. Concurrent enrollment application forms are available from CSUMB Admissions and Records.

CSUMB students participating in classes as regularly enrolled students may not take classes as an Open University student. Open University students who decide to apply for admission to the university must meet the regular admission requirements.

CSU Visitor Enrollment

If a matriculated student in good standing enrolled at one CSU campus, you may enroll at another CSU campus for one term. Credit earned at the host campus is automatically reported at your request to the home campus to be included on your transcript at the home campus. Prior to enrolling, you should consult with CSUMB advisors to determine how host campus courses may apply to your degree program .

Intersystem Cross Enrollment

If you are a matriculated CSU, UC, or community college student, you may enroll for one course per term at another CSU, UC, or community college and request that a transcript of record be sent to your home campus.

Cross enrollment is available to you if you:

  • Are a California resident;
  • Have completed at least one regular term at your home campus as a matriculated student;
  • Have paid appropriate enrollment fees at your home campus for the current term;
  • Have earned a grade point average of 2.00 for all college work completed; and
  • Have completed appropriate academic preparation or the course you intend to take, as determined by the host campus.

Details on enrollment conditions and procedures are available from the records (registrar's) office at your home campus.
